Kingfisher Class

Welcome to Kingfisher Class!

We are a class of Year 3 and 4 children, taught by Mrs Weston (Monday- Wednesday) and Mrs Laidlaw (Thursday and Friday) together with one member of support staff, Miss Holton. If you are in our class, we think these are the things you would like to know:

We have lots of fun and cover a range of topics. Here are some of the ones we have covered in previous years:

  • Extreme Earth
  • Rainforests
  • Romans
  • Egyptians
  • Stone Age
  • Anglo-Saxons and
  • World War 2.

We have also enjoyed school trips, including:

  • An Egyptian experience at Leicester Museum;
  • A World War 2 day at Holdenby House; and
  • A sleepover in school!

PE and Uniform:

We have PE every Monday afternoon - please come in your school PE kit on this day with long hair tied back and a water bottle. Please remove all jewellery, especially earrings, or cover these with tape if unable to remove them.

Homework:

Homework tasks will usually be set on a Friday (which will be communicated to parents through the school website). These tasks need to be completed by the following Wednesday. We also have a weekly spelling (see the list below) and times table test, so get practising!

Class Updates:

Throughout the year, we share photographs and school news via Instagram (@clipstonvcprimary) showing various activities, inside and outside the classroom that we have enjoyed! Please visit us and follow our page for regular updates. (You do not need to be a member of Instagram, or follow us, in order to do this.)

Extracurricular Activities:

Our class also take part in the school’s Carol Concert, Harvest Festival and Easter Service, usually held at our village church which parents are welcomed to join us for.

We hope this gives you a little flavour of life as part of Kingfisher Class.
